What Makes Oktoberfest Artisan Fair Special?

Osep Apple Strudel

Lines of people wait for apple strudel in The Black Forest Café, delivered piping hot from the oven (it disappears so fast we have a hard time getting pictures of it).

Toni Osep’s apple strudel is legendary. She began making the strudel for the first Oktoberfest in 2009 after years of perfecting her technique for family and friends. As she aged, it became a challenge to stretch the dough over the top of the entire kitchen table. Her son, Ed, initially helped peel apples and in time progressed to learning how to stretch the dough. Toni mentored this process right up until she passed at age 97!

Ed now makes the famous apple strudel for Oktoberfest Artisan Fair. There are no shortcuts. It is a labor of love and Ed enjoys hearing how much people enjoy the homemade art!

Basket Raffle

Basket Raffle Information and Rules

All 60 baskets will be available throughout the entire Oktoberfest weekend. Winners will be chosen on TBD.

Sign-up

  • It is essential that you sign up on the Oktoberfest Basket Raffle Information Board (classroom hallway). Signing up secures your “place at the table” and helps with the ticket planning and printing.
  • Sign-up begins TBD.
  • Sign-up must be on a numbered sheet on the board.

Basket Theme Options

  • Choose a theme from the Oktoberfest Basket Raffle Information Board.
  • Create your own theme and sign up on the information board.
  • Gift cards and certificates are very popular too.

Content

  • Only new items; no perishables.
  • Please provide a list of basket items.

Deliver and Deadline

  • All baskets must be at OLOL by TBD. Sorry no exceptions!
  • Express your creativity with a fully assembled and cellophane wrapped basket. (We can wrap it if you are unable to do so.)
  • All gift cards and certificates must be delivered to the office for security reasons.

50/50 Raffle
50/50 Raffle Information and Rules

OLOL 50/50 Raffle

  • No need to be present to win.
  • Winning ticket will be pulled TBD.
  • Sales begin TBD, after select liturgies and continue throughout Oktoberfest weekend. Tickets will not be sold through the Parish Office.
  • OLOL and the winner will split the jackpot equally.
  • Check the website every Tuesday beginning TBD, for an update on the growing amount to win and other details.
  • Parishioners are encouraged to sell tickets outside of Our Lady of Lourdes. Take tickets with you, gather the money and competed tickets, and return both together to the sales area after liturgies or at Oktoberfest.

Official rules

The winning ticket will be randomly drawn on TBD at Our Lady of Lourdes (OLOL) Oktoberfest in the Parish Hall. The winner does not need to be present to win. The winning number will be announced at Oktoberfest and will be posted on the OLOL website. 

Only one person can be named on the ticket and only one winner will be awarded the prize. 

The winner will have until TBD, to claim their prize and return all necessary paperwork to the OLOL Parish Office. If no one claims the prize by this date another ticket will be drawn and announced on TBD, and this winner will have until TBD, to claim their prize by returning all the necessary paperwork to the OLOL Parish Office. If no one claims this prize it will revert back to OLOL. 

Cash prize is determined by calculating half of net proceeds from the raffle sales. The remaining 50% will benefit OLOL Parish as it sees fit.

Participants must be 18 years or older to claim the prize.

All tickets transactions and winners associated with the 50/50 raffle are subject to federal and state laws, rules, and regulations.

Applicable taxes are the sole responsibility of the winner. Each winner will be required to provide OLOL with his/her social security number and a photo ID. Federal income tax withholding will be required for any prizes of more than $5,000.

Cash prizes will be paid to the winner by check within 30 days from the drawing.
